In 1935, Bedford began the development of a light military vehicle for the British Army. The vehicle was extensively tested before the war, but there were hardly any orders placed. Upon the outbreak of war In 1939, the first copies of the Bedford MW were put in service. In the period 1939 - 1945 there were 65,995 vehicles produced. Designer M Bergman
