The Sd.Kfz.231 (6 rad) was issued to Aufklärung (recce) detachments, as their heaviest component and the backbone of their firepower from 1932. They participated in numerous exercises, were mobilized during the Anschluss, and then used during the occupation of Czechoslovakia.
